Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the cpforkids.com FAQ. This page answers common questions about downloading PDFs, printing, paper, classroom use, licensing, privacy, and troubleshooting. For step-by-step help, you can also visit our printing and paper guides.

Downloading & Files

How do I download a coloring page?

Click any coloring page image on the site. The PDF opens in a new browser tab. To save the file, click the download icon in your browser’s PDF viewer, or go to File → Save As and choose a folder on your device. No account or sign-up is needed.

What format are the files?

Every coloring page on cpforkids.com is a PDF. PDFs open on computers, phones, and tablets without special software in most cases.

What resolution are the pages?

All pages are provided as 300 DPI PDFs designed to print sharp and clean on home and school printers.

Do the pages work on both US Letter and A4?

Yes. Our PDFs are designed to print correctly on both US Letter and A4 paper. Just select the paper size you are using in the print dialog before printing.

Do I need Adobe Reader to open the files?

No. Most browsers and built-in apps on phones, tablets, and computers can open PDFs directly. Adobe Reader also works if you already use it.

Can I save pages for later?

Yes. You can download and save as many PDFs as you like to your device, cloud storage, or classroom folder for later personal or educational printing.

Can I print the same page more than once?

Yes. You can print the same page as many times as you need for personal, classroom, homeschool, and other allowed educational use.

Printing

What are the best print settings?

For most pages, use Portrait orientation, Fit to Page scaling, and Best or High quality. Printing in black and white or grayscale is usually the best choice for coloring pages. For step-by-step instructions, visit our How to Print Coloring Pages guide.

What paper should I use?

For everyday coloring with crayons or colored pencils, 32 lb / 120 gsm premium printer paper works well. Heavier paper can help with markers and keepsake pages. See our Best Paper for Printing Coloring Pages guide for a full breakdown by tool.

Can I print from my phone or tablet?

Yes. On iPhone and iPad, open the PDF and use Share → Print. On Android, open the PDF and choose Print from the menu. Make sure your device and printer are on the same network if you are printing wirelessly.

Can I print on cardstock?

Yes, as long as your printer supports it. Many home printers can handle thicker paper through a rear feed tray or manual feed. Use one sheet at a time and choose the correct paper type in your printer settings.

Why do the lines smear when I start coloring?

This usually happens with inkjet printers. Let the page dry for several hours before coloring, especially if you are using markers. Laser printers are less likely to smear because they use dry toner.

Can I print in color?

Our pages are black-and-white line art designed for coloring, so color printing is not usually needed. Printing in black and white or grayscale saves ink and keeps the lines crisp.

The page looks cut off or has wide empty borders. How do I fix it?

Try changing Scale to Fit to Page in your print dialog. Also make sure your printer paper size matches the paper loaded in the tray.

Yes. Every coloring page on cpforkids.com is free to download and print. There is no account, payment, or sign-up required.

Are the pages suitable for toddlers?

Are there more detailed pages for older kids?

Troubleshooting

The PDF won’t open on my device.

Try a different browser or PDF app. Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge, Preview on Mac, and many built-in phone apps can open PDFs without extra setup.

The page prints with large white borders or looks too small.

Change Scale to Fit to Page in your print dialog. Also make sure the paper size in your printer settings matches the paper loaded in the tray.

The lines look light or faded after printing.

Set print quality to Best or High. Draft mode often makes lines look lighter and less clear.

My printer jams when I use thick paper.

Use the rear feed tray if your printer has one, load one sheet at a time, and choose Heavy Paper or Cardstock in your printer settings if available.

A URL or header is appearing on the printed page.

You are probably printing directly from a browser tab. Open the PDF in a PDF viewer first, then print from there.

The page only prints half the image.

Your paper size setting may not match the paper loaded in the printer. Make sure both are set to US Letter or both to A4.
