Downloading & Files
How do I download a coloring page?
Click any printable coloring page image on the site. The PDF opens in a new browser tab. To save the file, use the download button in your browser’s PDF viewer or choose Save As on your device. No account or sign-up is required.
What format are the files?
Printable coloring pages are provided as PDFs for convenient home and classroom printing. Online coloring pages can be colored directly in your browser, and finished artwork can be saved using the available download options.
What resolution are the printable pages?
Our printable coloring PDFs are prepared at 300 DPI for clear, sharp printing on home and classroom printers.
Do the pages work on both US Letter and A4?
Yes. CPForKids printable PDFs are designed for convenient printing on both US Letter and A4 paper. If needed, select Fit to Page in your print dialog so the complete illustration stays inside your printer’s printable area.
Do I need Adobe Reader to open the files?
No. Most modern browsers and built-in apps on phones, tablets, and computers can open PDFs directly. Adobe Acrobat Reader also works if you already use it.
Can I save printable pages for later?
Yes. You can download and save PDFs to your device, cloud storage, or classroom folder for later personal, classroom, homeschool, or other permitted non-commercial educational use.
Can I print the same page more than once?
Yes. You can print the same page multiple times for personal, classroom, homeschool, and other permitted non-commercial educational use.
Printing
What are the best print settings?
For most pages, use Portrait orientation, Fit to Page scaling, and Best or High quality. Black-and-white or grayscale printing is usually ideal for coloring pages. For step-by-step instructions, visit our How to Print Coloring Pages guide.
What paper should I use?
For everyday coloring with crayons or colored pencils, good-quality printer paper works well. Heavier paper can be useful for markers and keepsake pages. See our Best Paper for Printing Coloring Pages guide for recommendations by coloring tool.
Can I print from my phone or tablet?
Yes. On iPhone or iPad, open the PDF and use Share → Print. On Android, open the PDF and choose Print from the available menu. For wireless printing, make sure your device can communicate with your printer.
Can I print on cardstock?
Yes, if your printer supports the paper weight you want to use. Check your printer specifications before loading thicker paper. A rear or manual feed can be helpful on printers that support it.
Why do the lines smear when I start coloring?
This can happen with some inkjet printers. Let the page dry completely before coloring, especially when using markers. A few extra minutes can help prevent smudging. Laser printers are generally less likely to smear because they use toner.
Can I print in color?
You can, but CPForKids printable pages are primarily black-and-white line art designed to be colored after printing, so color printing is usually unnecessary.
The page looks cut off or has wide empty borders. How do I fix it?
Select Fit to Page in the print dialog and confirm that your printer paper size matches the paper loaded in the tray. You can find more troubleshooting tips in our Printing Guide.
Online Coloring
Can I color a page online instead of printing it?
Yes. Many CPForKids designs can be colored directly in your browser using our online coloring tool. No app installation is required.
Does online coloring work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The online coloring tool works in compatible modern browsers on desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices. You can use a mouse, touchscreen, or stylus depending on your device.
What tools are available for online coloring?
Available tools include Fill, Brush, Eraser, Magic Fill, Zoom, Undo, and Redo, along with colors and gradients. Controls may vary slightly depending on the page, browser, or device.
Can I save my finished online coloring?
Yes. When you finish coloring, you can use the available download options to save your artwork, including PNG, JPEG, or PDF formats.
Does my online coloring progress save automatically?
CPForKids can save coloring progress locally in your browser so you can continue on the same device and browser. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, or changing devices may remove saved progress, so download finished artwork you want to keep.
What should I do if an area does not fill correctly?
Try Brush or Eraser for small corrections. If the coloring tool stops responding, refresh the page. If the same problem continues, send us the page URL through our Contact page so we can review it.
Where can I learn how to use the online coloring tools?
Visit our Online Coloring Guide for step-by-step help with Fill, Brush, Magic Fill, colors, gradients, zoom, downloads, and other features.

Troubleshooting
The PDF won’t open on my device. What should I do?
Try a different browser or PDF app. Chrome, Edge, Preview on Mac, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and many built-in mobile apps can open standard PDFs.
The page prints with large white borders or looks too small.
Select Fit to Page and make sure the paper size in your print settings matches the paper loaded in your printer.
The lines look light or faded after printing.
Try increasing the printer quality from Draft to Normal, Best, or High. Also check your ink or toner level if printed lines remain unusually faint.
My printer jams when I use thick paper.
Check the maximum paper weight supported by your printer. If available, use the recommended rear or manual feed and load thicker sheets one at a time.
A URL or header appears when I print. How do I remove it?
You may be printing the webpage instead of the printable PDF. Open the PDF itself and print from your browser’s PDF viewer or another PDF app.
The page only prints part of the illustration.
Check that the selected paper size matches the paper in your printer and use Fit to Page so the complete illustration stays within the printable area.
The online coloring tool is not loading or responding. What should I do?
Refresh the page and make sure you are using an up-to-date browser. If the problem continues, try another browser or device. You can also send us the page URL and device details through our Contact page so we can investigate.
