Use one repeated accent on a bow, cuff, or belt to connect the outfit. For flames, ice, or an energy aura, keep the figure’s outline easy to follow instead of covering it with the darkest shade.
Let the character lead the scene. On the library, basketball, umbrella, and holiday pictures, color the face and clothing before the setting. Keep large background areas quieter than the hair or main prop. There is no need to fill every patch of white; an open background can help the character stand out.
