WHO IS ZELDA
The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo’s legendary action-adventure franchise created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, first released in 1986. Princess Zelda is the princess of Hyrule and one of the three bearers of the Triforce — the sacred relic left by the goddesses that grants the wishes of whoever holds it. For decades she was the princess Link rescued, but 2024’s Echoes of Wisdom finally put her in the hero’s role, playable for the first time in a mainline game.
The franchise spans over 20 games across every Nintendo console, with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom redefining open-world gaming for a new generation. The recurring trio of Link, Zelda and Ganon — hero, wisdom and power — has made The Legend of Zelda one of the most beloved game series in history.
How to Color Legend of Zelda
Princess Zelda’s classic look is built around royal purple and gold — her gown is a deep rich purple with gold trim and embroidery, her tiara is gold with a red gem at the center, and her hair is a warm golden blonde. The Breath of the Wild outfit swaps the gown for a fitted blue tunic with white undershirt — a completely different palette that rewards careful attention to the layered fabric details.
The Master Sword is the most satisfying object page in the set. The blade is silver-grey with a blue central fuller running its length, the crossguard is gold with a slight blue tint, and the grip is wrapped in dark blue. The glowing version adds light lines radiating from the blade — these work best left white or colored in very pale blue-white.
The Hylian Shield is deep royal blue with a silver bird emblem at the top and a gold triforce at the center, divided into four quadrants by silver lines. The border has a repeating decorative pattern that rewards careful coloring with two alternating colors.
Ganondorf is the most dramatic palette in the set — dark armored tones throughout with the jewel on his forehead in deep red-orange, and his eyes a striking amber-gold. Ganon beast form is darker still — charcoal grey-black body with dark purple energy effects and amber eyes.
The Majora’s Mask is the most complex single object to color. The base is a deep reddish-purple, the eye holes are surrounded by pale cream markings, and the decorative curved protrusions on the sides are striped in alternating dark tones. Working section by section rather than trying to fill the whole mask at once produces the best result.
For the Zelda mandala, work from the center outward — gold and purple in the inner Zelda portrait, silver and blue for the Master Sword and shield motifs in the middle rings, and warm amber for the triforce elements in the outer ring.
What to Do with Finished Zelda Coloring Pages
Make a Hyrule Gallery Wall
Print the Master Sword page, the Hylian Shield page, and the Zelda mandala. Color all three with careful accurate palettes, frame them in matching simple frames, and hang them together. The sword and shield pages work as a pair on either side of the mandala center. This is the kind of display that looks purchased rather than printed.
Turn the Triforce Page into a Craft
Print the Triforce page on cardstock, color each triangle in gold, cut it out carefully, and mount it on a piece of dark blue or purple cardstock as a backing. Add a simple ribbon at the top for hanging. A hand-colored Triforce wall piece takes twenty minutes and is immediately recognizable to any Zelda fan.
Use the Game Version Pages as a Timeline Activity
Print the Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom and Echoes of Wisdom pages in release order. Color them, write the game title and year under each one, and display them as a timeline strip. It’s a visual history of how Zelda’s art style evolved across forty years.
Make a Zelda Birthday Party Badge Set
Print the Navi, Korok, Bokoblin and Sheik pages at half size. Color them, cut them out as circular badges with a simple circle border, and pin one to each guest. It takes ten minutes of prep and immediately gives a Zelda party its theme.
Frame the Majora’s Mask Page
Print the detailed Majora’s Mask page on cardstock. Take a proper session with fine-tip colored pencils — deep reddish-purple base, cream markings around the eyes, alternating dark stripes on the protrusions. Frame it in a simple black frame. The finished piece is striking enough to display permanently and immediately recognizable to anyone who played the game.
